The Screen Burns are an ongoing series which began in 2005. First, a vintage computer is salvaged. Then the machine must be prepped for its final mission. Hardware components are repaired/replaced, and any required software disks are obtained and installed. Because of the computer's age and scarcity of hardware and software, this is often a lengthy task. A custom software program is then written specifically to run on the vintage platform. This program will display information on the screen, basically whatever meets my fancy. The program runs continually, 24 hours a day, for 6 to 12 months. The image is eventually burnt onto the screen, permanently.
